Best baby shower gifts for twins
There is a lot of things you could possibly buy soon-to-be twin parents. This list is going to be condensed to the top items twin parents need the most.
While also focusing on easy, efficient, and practical things.
1. Twin baby gift baskets
Gift baskets are a fun way to make gift-giving more personal.
You can totally buy a simple basket or go all out by making it and adding some personal touch to it.
The good thing about baskets is that you can add multiple items and is a good way to be able to buy parents a diverse of things…
Items you can place in a gift basket are:
- Small pack of diapers
- First aid kits
- Bath items
The fun part of giving baskets is that you customize them into categories.
For example, the gift basket below includes all sorts of baby items like washcloths, burp cloths, bodysuits, etc…
There is so much you can do with a gift basket… So have fun with it!
2. Diaper cakes
Diaper cakes are a fun way to incorporate a personal touch with a practical much-needed gift.
If you’re crafty this is an awesome gift for you to DIY or you can also buy.
I love this gift because it has a personal touch but also provides soon-to-be twin parents a must-have gift.
Below is an example of how much fun you could have with a diaper cake…
And if you’re not crafty like me you can totally order one!
3. Box of Diapers and/or Wipes
These items had to make it at the top of the list.
How many diapers per twin? A lot. At a minimum, you can use 10 diapers per baby per day!
So do the math.
You can never have too many diapers. Make sure you check the baby’s registry because not all twin parents will choose to go the disposable route.
Some might choose to use cloth diapering so double check first.
Wipes are also a great thing to add… They aren’t as expensive but they go hand to hand with diapers and can be used for many other things.
4. Twin nursing pillow
Nursing pillows can be expensive especially one that’s made for twins.
This is a great gift because for a mom that’s planning on breastfeeding you could get her something like my best friend’s twin pillow OR
You could also go with something like the Twin Z pillow that could be used for nursing, lounging, and tandem feed twins.
AKA another multipurpose gift! See where I’m going with this…
5. Double stroller
With twins, this is a must. You don’t have an option. Especially when you’re taking care of twins alone and taking them out all by yourself.
There are so many out there and they each have pros and cons. Stick to the registry but a simple double umbrella stroller is a good option.
The reason I suggest a small umbrella stroller is because side by side strollers can get bulky and some doors can be very narrow.
With twins, you will quickly realize how narrow certain doors can be!
6. Car seats
Car seats are another must-have item.
You need them to leave the hospital. You can start with an infant car seat or go straight into a convertible that can grow with the twins.
This is a gift that the twin parents will need 2 of us.
So if you can afford both that would be amazing but even buying one car seat will help them tremendously.
7. Personalized clothing item
Clothing is one of those things that even if you don’t put it in your registry you will still get them.
Especially if you’re having girls… People will buy you tons of girl outfits.
For that reason, and because having twins is such a fun experience then what better way to express it through clothing.
Getting the parents a personalized onesie, pajamas, swaddle or burp cloth with the twin’s initials if they have names already OR
A fun statement about twins would be a thoughtful gift that the parents will love.
My favorite place to get personalized anything is Etsy. They have everything there!
Are you crafty? Love working with your hands?
Well, why not make a gift that the parents will need but also has a personal touch to it!
You can DIY things like:
Clothes, hats, blankets, burp cloths, and so much more!
A great way to show your creativity!
This is the perfect gift for the people that know the soon-to-be parents really well.
9. Swing, Bouncer, Or Rocker
Just because is twins it doesn’t mean you need two of everything.
Especially because you don’t want to end up with double items that the twins might not even like.
So start with the one that way the twin parents can test it out and see what they prefer.
So either get them a swing, bouncer, or rocker.
10. Cribs or Pack and Play
Some people have both but technically you can use them for the same thing aka sleeping.
Cribs or pack and plays are items that even if they are going to share one in the beginning the will eventually need 2.
This is a great gift if you can afford to buy 2 of them.
Babies need a safe place to sleep and this will provide that for them.
For pack and play, I like Graco yet again!
And for cribs, my favorite brands are Delta, Graco, and Dream on me
11. Gift cards and Cash
Baby registries are great but what about those items that you didn’t think you will need and didn’t add to the registry?
Having gift cards and cash allows you to buy those extra things you didn’t think about or know you will need until after the twins are home.
This is also a great way for parents to feel like after they run out of baby items they won’t need to use their cash since they have gift cards!
You can never go wrong with a gift card or money. Might not seem personalized but it works every time.
What about the twin mom?
The gifts and the baby shower might be all about the twins…
But what about the soon-to-be mom?
She will also need lots of support and help. So why not also think of her and get her a gift?
An item that will make her feel special and remind her that even though the days might be long she can DO THIS!
Twin mom gift
You can do a personalized twin mom gift like jewelry or a gift certificate for a massage, mani-pedi, coffee, etc.
OR you can even get her a gift basket with the essentials to take care of herself post twins.
Things to consider before buying a twin baby shower gift
When it comes to buying a baby shower gift for twins there are some things you should keep in mind!
Is the gift good for multiple usages… With twins, items can quickly add up and make your house feel crowded.
AKA like a daycare…
Is crucial to buy items that can be repurposed and use for more than one thing. Especially when buying larger items…
Things like diaper caddies can easily be taken from one room to another
A rocker that can serve for sitting, sleeping, and also entertainment.
These are just a few ways that you can think about a gift that a twin mama can use for more than one purpose!
Easy to use
Twins are already a lot. Taking care of twins especially alone is a lot of work.
You need items that are simple, efficient, and super fast to put together and apart.
When you have 2 crying babies the last thing you want to deal with is an item that requires 50 million parts in order for it to work.
Nobody has time for that!
Does the item allow twin parents to go about their merry way and be able to do other things?
When you’re running a household, working from home, have other kids to attend to, etc.
Having items that allow you to be hands-free is priceless…
You’re already short of hands with two so an item that can make that process easier is so appreciated.
How much to spend on baby shower gift for twins?
Price is another big thing to consider when it comes to twins. Twins can quickly add up and they are certain items that you might need more than one.
So if you can help by buying larger expensive items then why not…
When it comes to how much you should spend that’s a personal choice.
Only you know your finances and what your budget can handle.
In the end, is the thought that counts… At times the best gifts are the ones money can’t buy!
So maybe you’re that friend or family member that can’t afford to buy a gift but can bring meals, help take care of the babies, etc…
Then that’s a very valuable gift that you can’t put a price on it!
So as far as how much to spend… Is really up to you!
Do you buy two gifts for a twin baby shower?
This depends on what you’re buying. If you’re buying a bigger item like a swing, or even a big box of diapers then you can totally buy one gift.
If you’re buying clothing items then I would say buy two gifts.
It all depends on the type of gift you’re buying…
I would say bigger items you can buy one and smaller things like clothing then buy one for each baby.
Should you buy twins the same gift?
Again it depends on what you’re buying. Clothes you can buy the same sets, burp cloths, diapers, etc…
Things that aren’t gender-specific you can buy the same gift…
OR items that the parents are asking two of the same then go ahead and buy two of them if you can afford it.
Should you buy gender specific items?
Some twin parents might not want to know the sex of the babies so you should stick with gender-neutral items.
Something else to consider is that even though you know the sex. Often times buying gender-neutral will simplify life for the twin parents.
No need to overthink anything… And everything can be shared and mismatched between twins.
Gender-neutral colors are always welcome especially if you know the family really well and they prefer neutral tones.
Last words for baby shower gift ideas for twins
When it comes to gift ideas for a twin shower think easy, convenient, and practical.
So anything that will help twin parents make life easier is much appreciated.
Also, non-gifts are also just as important. Maybe you can’t afford to buy an item but you can give some of your time then that’s also very valuable.
Extra hands with twins have always been appreciated it especially when you’re already don’t have much of a village.
In the end, is the thought that counts so whatever your heart places you to give do it. Doesn’t matter what the gift is…
